A photo album is great for just showing you the pictures, but a scrapbook actually tells the story behind the photos.

It can hold photographs, mementos and notes about the event where the pictures took place, and even the pages themselves can be designed to depict the overall mood.

In recent years, scrapbooking has evolved so much that there’s actually an entire industry that’s specifically geared to cater to scrapbooking enthusiasts.

You first need to start by organizing all of your photographs.

If you have a drawer full of old pictures, it would be best to divide them into themes rather than attempting to organize them into chronological order.

Once you have all the photos that you wish to use, you need to think about the supplies you’re going to need.

You will need plain or textured acid-free paper, scissors, adhesives such as liquid glue, an acid-free journaling pen that’s waterproof and, of course, scrapbook embellishments.

Choose roughly one to three pictures and decide on the placement before using your adhesive. A little planning will prevent you from cropping the photos in the wrong place or into the wrong size.

Now that you’ve matted your photos and you know where they’re going to go, you can apply the adhesive and gently press them down onto the acid-free page.

This is where you tell the rest of the story and you can add names, dates, captions, lyrics, whatever you choose.
